Cayce Howe is an American meditation teacher, poet and podcaster, authorized as a teacher in the Theravada Buddhist tradition. He is a senior meditation and dharma teacher for InsightLA and a guiding teacher for InsightLA Long Beach. He offers guidance through workshops, retreats and one-to-one sessions, and his teaching centers on learning to see clearly, stay grounded and think for yourself in a chaotic world.
His practice spans more than 25 years in a variety of traditions. In 2004 he began a six-year stretch of living and working at meditation retreat centers, which culminated in a year-long closed meditation retreat in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. His Theravada authorization places him alongside teachers such as Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg and Trudy Goodman, and he is currently training to become a Buddhist chaplain.
Day to day, Cayce is the lead mindfulness teacher at The Mental Health Collective in Orange County, California, and teaches a variety of offerings at the University of California Irvine. He also teaches meditation at mental health facilities in Southern California and co-hosts the podcast "More Happiness, Less Suffering" with psychiatrist Dr. Monisha Vasa.
Cayce is also an artist and poet. His book of poetry, "Becoming Water", is a series of short poems arranged in three movements: life, love and awakening. It moves from wisdom teachings on discernment in everyday life, through love as the bridge between the mundane and the infinite, to the experiential, a journey to no destination where everywhere is home.
