Jacqueline Suskin is a poet and educator who has been teaching workshops, writing books, hosting retreats and creating spontaneous poetry around the world since 2009.
She is best known for Poem Store, a project in which patrons choose a topic and receive a unique, improvised poem in exchange. She has composed over forty thousand of them. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, T Magazine, the Los Angeles Times and The Atlantic, among other publications.
Suskin is the author of nine books, published by Publication Studio, Ten Speed Press, Rare Bird, Write Bloody, Sounds True and Flower Press. They include Every Day is a Poem, A Year in Practice and The Verse for Now. Her collection Help in the Dark Season explores love as a path that begins in the dark, grows, breaks and transforms us, and it holds that human connection is always worth the risk.
From 2019 to 2021 she was Artist in Residence at Folklife Farm, where she founded a retreat program and continues to host artists from around the world. She lives in Detroit, where she brings nature poetry into urban classrooms with her Poem Forest curriculum.
