Cultivating the Wise Heart: Practicing the Divine Abodes
8 days
2:00 PM
Meditation Retreat
Description
This seven-day retreat explores the four divine abodes, or brahmaviharas, central to Buddhist practice. Participants will engage with lovingkindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity through sustained meditation and daily guidance. The retreat moves between silent sitting and walking practice, anchored by instruction in the mechanics and depth of each heart quality. Teacher Donald Rothberg, who has practiced insight meditation for nearly five decades, emphasizes the relationship between these practices and clear seeing, offering both formal teaching and individual consultation. The final days address integration, with practical guidance for bringing these practices into daily relationships, work, and social engagement. No Buddhist affiliation is required. The retreat operates in silence to deepen inner focus and receptivity.
