Description
Get Healthy With Sound is a sound healing workshop at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York, led by Eileen McKusick, originator of the Biofield Tuning method. Over a weekend, you learn simple techniques that use tuning forks and your own voice to reduce stress, improve focus, and increase energy. All are welcome, whether you are new to sound work or already familiar with it.
What to Expect
The workshop is an immersive experience of sound and voice, taught through lecture and hands-on practice. You learn to use a variety of tuning forks along with your voice, for yourself and for others. Alongside the techniques, Eileen offers a different way of seeing health: as electrical and sonic rather than chemical and mechanical. The aim is a set of simple, repeatable exercises that don't take long to do but can have a real effect.
The weekend has a clear rhythm:
- Friday: Check-in runs from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with rooms available after 5:00. The workshop opens at 7:00 and continues until 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday: Sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to noon and again from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday: A final session from 9:00 a.m. to noon, then check-out at 1:00 p.m.
The schedule may shift at the faculty's discretion. Topics include the principles of Biofield Tuning, a range of tuning fork applications, and vocal techniques for personal and interpersonal sound work.
About Eileen McKusick
Eileen Day McKusick is an innovator in therapeutic sound, electric health, and the human biofield. The Setting
The workshop takes place on the Omega Institute campus in Rhinebeck, New York. Overnight guests choose from several kinds of lodging, each booked separately: private and double cabin rooms, a dorm single, tent cabins, or a campsite. Cabin rooms have heat and air conditioning, while the tent cabins have neither. Camping is limited, and stoves, campfires, and recreational vehicles are not allowed on campus. Accommodation includes meals, optional classes and recreation, walking trails, and parking. Guests who live nearby can register as commuters, and meals and use of the facilities are included for them too.
Before You Go
No prior experience is needed. The workshop is taught in English and suits both newcomers and people who already work with sound.
Tuning forks and equipment for personal use are not included, though practice sets may be available for purchase. Linens are provided in the cabin rooms. In the dorm and tent cabins, bring your own sheets and towels, and in the tent cabins a sleeping bag, or rent bedding from Omega for a small fee. Campers should bring their own tent and gear. For accessible rooms, ask the Omega registration team when you book.
