Healing Retreat
Description
Post-Treatment Life is a four-day healing retreat for cancer survivors and thrivers at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It is led by integrative medicine practitioner, cancer survivor, and author Dr. Amy Rothenberg together with Kripalu faculty member Ilana Beigel. The program brings together education, reflection, movement, and contemplative practice for people who have finished treatment and are finding their way into what comes next.
Many survivors feel relief and gratitude when treatment ends. The physical, emotional, and cognitive effects that follow can linger for months or even years, quietly shaping quality of life and long-term health. This retreat offers a supportive, compassionate, trauma-informed space to look at those effects directly and to learn practical ways of caring for yourself.
What to Expect
The program combines evidence-informed teaching with yoga and mindfulness. You will explore integrative and natural medicine strategies that may help with common post-treatment challenges, including fatigue, brain fog, lymphedema, peripheral neuropathy, and changes in intimacy and sexual wellbeing. You will also look at how nutrition, stress reduction, movement, rest, and restorative practices can help build an internal environment that supports resilience.
Yoga and mindfulness practices are offered as a way to process the physical and emotional impact of cancer treatment, regulate the nervous system, restore a sense of safety in the body, and reconnect with vitality, meaning, and inner steadiness. The aim is greater confidence in the body's innate capacity for healing, along with tools you can take home.
The days follow a steady rhythm. The retreat opens with check-in from 2:00 pm, a Kripalu Yoga class, dinner, and an evening program session from 7:30 to 9:00. On the full days, Kripalu Yoga runs from 6:30 to 7:45 am, followed by a silent breakfast. Program sessions take place from 9:00 to 11:30 am and again from 1:30 to 4:00 pm, with lunch between them. A second yoga class runs from 4:45 to 6:00 pm, then dinner. On the final morning there is yoga, silent breakfast, and a closing session from 9:00 to 11:00, then lunch and departure. Actual times may vary, and the schedule given at check-in has the details and room locations.
