Description
Sacred Reparenting: Healing from Toxic Parents is a weekend healing retreat at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, for adults who grew up with a critical, controlling, neglectful, or frightening parent. It is led by psychic counselor and author Lisa Campion, whose more than 40 years of practice shape a warm, trauma informed approach to inner child work, nervous system care, and spiritual healing.
The premise is simple and tender: the parent you have been waiting for may be you. Sacred reparenting is not about blame or reliving the past. It is the practice of becoming the steady, loving presence you needed then and offering it to yourself now.
What to Expect
The weekend moves through guided meditation, gentle energy healing, journaling, and small group practice. Together you will:
- Meet both the wounded and the delightful aspects of your inner child.
- Trace survival patterns, such as the pleaser, the perfectionist, the invisible one, or the child who grew up too soon, to their origins and see where they still make decisions for you.
- Practice nervous system tools that help your body feel safe, not only your mind.
- Release what has traveled down the family line so that it settles with you.
- Find your footing with a parent still in your life, including boundaries and the grief of acceptance.
- Make peace with your inner critic and reclaim play and creativity as a path back to your soul.
The program begins on a Friday and closes on Sunday. Friday has check-in from 2:00 pm, a Kripalu Yoga class from 4:45 to 6:00, dinner, and a first program session from 7:30 to 9:00. Saturday starts with yoga at 6:30 am and a silent breakfast, followed by program sessions from 9:00 to 11:30 and 1:30 to 4:30, with lunch between and another yoga class before dinner. On Sunday, after morning yoga and silent breakfast, the final session runs from 9:00 to 11:00, and lunch at 11:30 marks departure. Times can shift, and a schedule is provided at check-in.
You leave with practices you can keep using, a kinder inner voice, and the relief of no longer waiting for what you can now give yourself.

The Setting
Kripalu is a yoga and health center in Stockbridge, in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. Its accommodations are intentionally simple, meant to help you unplug and feel grounded. You can choose a private room for solitude and quiet, or a shared, community-style dorm room if you want connection. Rooms are ready by 4:00 pm, and a luggage room holds your bags until then. Three meals are served daily, with breakfast taken in silence. On the day of departure, check-out is at 10:00 am, though you may stay on campus and take part in workshops until 2:00 pm.
Before You Go
The retreat is open to anyone with lived experience of difficult parenting. No prior yoga, meditation, or energy work is needed, and the pace suits both beginners and experienced practitioners. It is taught in English.
Your stay includes three nutritious meals a day, more than ten yoga classes over the program, access to the Kripalu grounds, and your room. Healing Arts sessions, private consultations, and items from the Kripalu Shop and Cafe are available separately.
