Rona Yellow Robe

Rona Yellow Robe is a Native American flutist and vocalist, born and raised in Havre, Montana, and an enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe of Rocky Boy, Montana. She is known for her powerful voice, her flute style and her heart-filled presence. She picked up her first flute in 2002 and has been on a musical and spiritual journey ever since. She calls the Native American flute her "other voice," and it is through playing it that she has become comfortable sharing personal and meaningful parts of her life with all audiences.

Since May 2008 she has created music with Bruce Witham. Together they have recorded four albums: "Voice of the Trees" (2009), "The Gathering" (2012), the Christmas album "Lighting Our Way" (2013) and "Shoot For The Moon" (2016). Their work has drawn Native American Music Awards recognition, including Flutist of the Year in 2014 and 2016. In 2019 the Native American Style Flute Association named her North American Indigenous Flutist of the Year for "Caterpillar & Butterfly."

Rona and Bruce have played hundreds of events, including festivals, museums, schools, weddings, memorial services and powwows. They have honored military veterans and their families, and have worked in partnership with hospice organizations in Washington State for 15 years. They are also growing as music teachers and workshop facilitators. In their words, "We will perform for 5 or 2,000." For them it is about blessing people's lives with the music.
