Thrive: A Brain Health Retreat for Aging Well is a free online introduction to brain health and healthy aging, presented by speakers from the Alzheimer's Association in collaboration with Drala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. It is a secular wellness session for anyone who wants to understand what daily choices may help protect cognitive function over the years ahead.
The session also serves as the doorway to Thrive, a separate in-person brain health retreat at Drala Mountain Center, offered with the Alzheimer's Association Brain Health Advancement Institute.
What to Expect
The evening is a virtual presentation followed by Q&A and a discussion of practical strategies. It runs in the evening, 6:00 to 7:30 pm Mountain Time, with the presentation itself lasting about one hour.
The speakers draw on the landmark U.S. POINTER study and other emerging research. They look at how physical activity, nutrition, cognitive and social engagement, and cardiovascular health can work together to support a healthier brain. The emphasis is on translating the science into steps that feel realistic, so you leave with ideas you can begin using in everyday life rather than a long list of rules.
Expect to come away with:
- An evidence-informed foundation for thinking about brain health and aging
- A clearer sense of how movement, nutrition, cardiovascular health, mental challenge and social connection support the brain over time
- Practical takeaways for daily life
- An introduction to what the in-person Thrive retreat offers, where the research is put into practice in an immersive setting
About the Series
This program belongs to the Drala Mountain Online Practice Series, a collection of tuition-free online offerings held on select Tuesday evenings. The center, a Buddhist-rooted mountain retreat setting, offers the series in the spirit of dāna, the tradition of giving from the heart.
Before You Go
No experience or preparation is needed, and the session is held in English. Taking part is free. At registration you can make an optional tax-deductible donation of any amount to support the center's work, and giving is entirely up to you.
Because this is an introductory talk, a few things are not part of it:
- The in-person retreat experience, which is a separate program
- One-on-one consultation
- Ongoing coaching or follow-up
If the research resonates, the in-person Thrive retreat at Drala Mountain Center is the place to go deeper into brain health and aging.
