説明
The Little Surrealist Tour invites young visitors to slow down in front of some of the most imaginative art of the twentieth century. At The Dalí in St. Petersburg, Florida, families with children ages four through eleven spend a short, unhurried morning looking closely at Salvador Dalí's permanent collection, with room for wonder, questions, and silence.
Instead of a quick march through the galleries, this tour treats looking as a practice that can be learned. Children are encouraged to notice, wonder, and form their own responses, whether that means talking, listening, or simply sitting with what they see. It is a gentle introduction to surrealist art, and to the quiet attention that makes any encounter with art richer.
The tour happens on the first Sunday of each month, which makes it an easy ritual for families to return to.
What to Expect
The experience runs about thirty minutes on the museum's Third-Floor Overlook, an intimate setting well suited to younger visitors. A guided exploration of the permanent collection sets the pace, and the emphasis stays on close observation and curiosity rather than on facts to memorize.
- Guided looking at works from Dalí's permanent collection
- Space for children to share what they notice, or to stay quietly with an image
- A relaxed, family-friendly rhythm designed for ages four through eleven
- An adult companion is needed for children ages four through six
Families leave with a shared experience of art and a few new ways of looking that can carry into the next museum visit, or into an ordinary walk home.
About Dali
Dali is an accredited meditation teacher with the British School of Meditation, teaching since 2022. Born and bred in the North East of England, he is well travelled and now calls London home. He was introduced to meditation in India, a country close to his heart, and soon afterwards realised he wanted to teach and share his experiences in the hope that meditation could help others as it has helped him.
His approach is generally secular, while borrowing from Buddhism and other belief systems and philosophies. He focuses on removing the barriers people come up against in daily life, so that peace, calm, and happiness have the best chance of being present.
