Tibetan Buddhist teacher and master of the Karma Kagyu and Nyingma lineages. Born in Nepal in 1975, the son of meditation master Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, he has been an early collaborator with neuroscientists studying the effects of meditation on the brain. In 2011 he disappeared into a four-and-a-half-year wandering retreat — vanishing into Indian monasteries, caves, and streets — an experience he chronicled in In Love with the World. His teachings emphasize joyful awareness, the natural openness of mind, and the practice of basic happiness available right now.
