Sah D'Simone is a spiritual teacher, humanitarian and best-selling author, and the founder of the Somatic Activated Healing (SAH) Method. The method is a trauma-informed, body-based practice that brings together somatic body keys, trance dance, breathwork, dynamic meditation and positive affirmations. He founded the Somatic Dance Institute and has trained teachers and guided communities in this work around the world. His message is that healing is possible and that freedom begins in the body.
His approach comes from devotion and direct experience. He describes more than 300 days of silent meditation retreat over the past decade, retreat experience in India and Nepal, professional training in contemplative psychotherapy, and clinical training in spiritual care at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where he served as a Chaplain Intern. He has danced into trance states since 2015, and that kinesthetic learning led to the SAH Method.
Sah has done grassroots humanitarian work in orphanages, homeless shelters and rehab centers in Indonesia, Nepal, India and the US. His work with homeless youth in Venice Beach, California earned him the CARE Award from the city and county of Los Angeles. His site says he has also held space with survivors of bonded slavery in India and with the sick and dying in hospital settings. From these experiences he has come to see healing as relational, embodied and earned through presence.
He is the author of Spiritually, We: The Art of Relating and Connecting From the Heart and Spiritually Sassy: 8 Radical Steps to Activate Your Innate Superpowers. He is also an award-winning filmmaker and hosts the podcast Solving the Riddle of Being Human. He previously hosted the Spiritually Sassy Show and appeared on The Big Celebrity Detox on UK Channel 4. He has been a guest teacher at Columbia University, and his site lists collaborations with Harvard, Oxford and Columbia, the United Nations and the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Sah's teaching invites people to feel safe in the body, feel their feelings, befriend grief and stay present for life, including when it is difficult. He teaches this in live somatic dance classes and in meditations on Insight Timer. His YouTube channel describes the practice as "Part Ritual. Part Rave."
Worth Knowing
Sah D'Simone is a Brazilian-born spiritual teacher, humanitarian, author, and founder of the Somatic Activated Healing (SAH) Method—a trauma-informed, body-based practice that fuses somatic movement, trance dance, breathwork, and dynamic meditation. His reputation rests on three pillars: rigorous personal practice (more than 300 days of silent meditation retreat over a decade, training in both India and Nepal, and contemplative psychotherapy credentials), sustained humanitarian work in orphanages, shelters, and rehab centers across Indonesia, Nepal, India, and the United States, and a distinctive teaching voice that treats healing as relational, embodied, and earned through presence. What draws practitioners to Sah's work is precisely this combination—he doesn't offer abstraction or theory, but rather a lived understanding of grief, somatic safety, and the kinesthetic path to freedom. His work with homeless youth in Venice Beach earned him a CARE Award from Los Angeles, grounding his teaching in real community work, not retreat isolation. People care because Sah models that healing is possible and that it begins in the body.
