Wah! is a musician who brings healing through sound and the teachings of yoga. Her fans once made a bumper sticker that reads "LESS STRESS MORE WAH!", and her work, across music, books and lectures, is about helping people relax and destress.
On her website she is described as the first female to bring kirtan, the call-and-response chanting of India, to the West in the 1990s. She has played bass guitar with her rock band at yoga festivals and centers around the U.S. since 1997. Today she performs Sanskrit mantra with Ableton Live, vocals and harmonium. She has also offered music and albums to the therapeutic market, and her Savasana CDs have sold over 100,000 copies worldwide. Her album It's Friday Night gathers mid-tempo mantra inspired by her online Friday night community.
In 2012 she started the Healing Concert, a multi-media concert that uses projections, slow-moving laser lights and live music to inspire world peace and peace within. She has performed at venues including Fiske Planetarium, the Franklin Institute, Omega Institute, the Globe Sound Healing Conference and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Her lectures have been welcomed at Princeton University and Loyola Marymount University.
Wah! is also an author. Healing: A Vibrational Exchange (2013) introduced the ideas behind her music, and her book and card deck Self Care: Building a Smarter, Stronger, More Peaceful Self offers tools such as tapping, meridian stimulation, breathing and humming. She teaches people to lead sound healing events and offers counseling, self-care and sound healing in private sessions. As she puts it: "I want to improve how we live our lives on this planet and create events which inspire peace and cooperation."
Worth Knowing
Wah! is an accomplished kirtan artist, musician, yoga teacher, and record label owner who has spent over 25 years teaching and performing at the intersection of mantra practice and contemporary music. What distinguishes her trajectory is the breadth of her reach: she's lectured at Princeton University and Loyola Marymount University, performed alongside figures like Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer, and taught at prestigious retreat centers including Omega Institute and 1440 Multiversity. Beyond her performance and teaching work, Wah! founded and leads a global yoga community bearing her name, positioning her as both a cultural architect and a practitioner within the devotional music space. Her recent book and card deck "Self Care: Building a Smarter, Stronger, More Peaceful Self" signals a parallel commitment to accessible wellness guidance. With over 67,000 Spotify followers, her audience spans yoga studios, meditation practitioners, and listeners seeking mantra-based music outside traditional South Asian contexts. For practitioners and seekers, Wah! represents a bridge between rigorous spiritual tradition and contemporary life—someone who doesn't simply perform kirtan but actively shapes how Western students encounter it.
